Corner Lot Buys Glen Kernan Golf and Country Club and Plans to Renovate with Jim Furyk and Cam Smith

Corner Lot, a local real estate development company, purchased the Glen Kernan Golf and Country Club, a private golf course community in Jacksonville, FL for an undisclosed amount. The company plans to renovate the club and its facilities, alongside two golf stars, Jim Furyk and Cam Smith.

Glen Kernan Golf and Country Club, which was established in 1999, features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert C. Walker, a 25,000-square-foot clubhouse, a fitness center, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a playground. The club has about 350 members and 500 homes on its 600-acre property.

Corner Lot, which was founded in 2009, specializes in acquiring, developing, and managing residential and commercial properties in Northeast Florida. The company has a portfolio of over 1,000 units and 200,000 square feet of retail and office space. The team intends to upgrade the golf course and the clubhouse, as well as add new amenities and services for the members and residents.

Jim Furyk, 53, is a 17-time PGA Tour winner, including the 2003 U.S. Open, and a nine-time Ryder Cup player. He also served as the captain of the U.S. team in the 2018 Ryder Cup. Furyk currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions, where he has won three times, including the 2020 U.S. Senior Open. Furyk lives in Ponte Vedra Beach, where he hosts an annual charity golf tournament, the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation Concert and Celebrity Golf Classic.

Cameron Smith, 28, is a four-time PGA Tour winner, including the 2020 Sony Open and the 2021 Zurich Classic. He also represented Australia in the 2016 Olympics and the 2019 Presidents Cup. He joined LIV Golf, a new global golf league backed by Saudi Arabia, in 2023, and has since won two events, including the British Open at St. Andrews. Smith moved to Jacksonville in 2017, and has been looking for a new place to practice after leaving the PGA Tour and losing access to TPC Sawgrass.

Andy Allen, avid golfer and CEO of Corner Lot, has consistently referred to himself as Jacksonville’s biggest cheerleader. The redevelopment of Glen Kernan is another big move for Corner Lot and the city of Jacksonville.

The acquisition of the Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club by Corner Lot is expected to bring about a significant change in the real estate market in Jacksonville.
